   Want to know what’s on the forefront of international design advances? Think WIRED NextFest 2008. I would love for you consider blogging about or listing the WIRED NextFest on your site, taking place in Chicago September 27 – October 12. WIRED NextFest is the premier showcase of global innovations that are transforming our homes.

   Don’t just sit – Hoverit. That’s the slogan of this two-person British designed-orientated furniture startup. They promise the Hoverit lounger is the first in a series of magnetic hover furniture. The experience, according to the company, is more like floating than sitting. The lounger’s ethereal appearance is accentuated by the designer’s choice of material, a clear acrylic plastic. The acrylic is not a cushion, but the give of the magnetic forces acting beneath a persons body weight, probably makes the experience quite different from a normal, earth-bound, rigid plastic chair.

   WIRED NextFest 2008 brings together innovations from inventors and research and development labs from around the world and will feature advances in communication, design, entertainment, energy, exploration, medicine/health, robotics, security and more. Over the past five years, WIRED NextFest has drawn over 150,000 visitors combined in San Francisco (2004), Chicago (2005), New York (2006), and Los Angeles (2007).

   WIRED NextFest will be held in Chicago’s Millennium Park. It is free and open to the public for two weeks, from September 27, 2008 to October 12, 2008 daily from 11am to 7pm, Thursday noon to 8pm, and closed Monday.
